Nancy Wang, LCSW
I provide counseling and therapy services for children and families looking to improve their relationships, functioning, and overall wellness. I especially enjoy working with children struggling with school, peer relationships, big behaviors, and anxiety to develop their inner strengths and resources.
I have been working in the mental health field for over 17 years and my background includes experience in community agencies and schools providing individual and group therapy to children, and partnering with parents. I am trained in evidence-based interventions including Child-Centered Play Therapy, PCIT-SM (specialized treatment for selective mutism), and Supporting Parents with Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE).
My Approach
I work from a humanistic, person-centered perspective, and I believe that healing occurs in the context of relationships. The combination of play (a child’s natural language) and the therapeutic relationship provides a child with the space to heal and understand their world. I take a relational approach to treatment and use evidence-based modalities tailored to my clients’ developmental levels.
I believe family work is integral to helping children and adolescents. As such, although the child is the primary client, I meet regularly with parents/caregivers to help improve family communication and connection.
